This is undoubtedly the best information package I have seen on possibly the most important management practice carried out by dairy farmers.
It features dairy farmers, veterinarians, advisory officers, researchers, nutrition consultants and contract rearers.
For too long replacement calves and heifers have taken second place on many dairy farms.
Considerable research, including a large scale program being carried out in NSW Agriculture’s Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute has been directed at showing farmers that well managed and grown replacements will reap substantial profits.
